Breaking down you new mapping

How to read your validation matrix

Using a new system can be a little overwhelming.  This resource is to assist you in understanding how to read the new mapping called validation matrix.

2 Sections

The first section (in pink) on the left-hand side of the table is the unit of competency.  It is to be read from left to right and is designed to link the criteria inside the unit rather than a manual mapping document which lists the unit criteria from top to bottom.  Each criterion is noted across the element and performance criteria.  Each of the other criteria is also given a number which is usually in a sequential order as listed in the unit on training.gov.au.

Each one of the criteria can be clicked on and it will bring the criteria up for you to see what it is.  The criteria will be either in a green or a red colour. The green is an indicator of sufficient content for that criteria, the red is noting there is insufficient content in the assessment.  These will also be the ones that is noted in the rectification table - check out our resource for this report on how to use it.

The second section is the links with the assessment that have been uploaded.  At the top of the columns reference the names of the assessment instruments and can be customised during the tagging process.  Go to the Tagging resources for more information on this process.  This section also refers to the numbering or activity titles that are noted in the assessment, for example Question 1 / task A/ Project checklist etc.  This section is noted in the diagram in purple.

Validation Matrix explained

Gap to Investigate

When the system can't find a tag (assessment Question/s) that links with a criteria it will note the ' GAP TO INVESTIGATE'.  This feature can have notes added to it to identify what you have investigated.    This doesn't mean it will change the assessment - you still have to that off the system, however, it will start the evidence of looking at the review outcome and prepare for action to a method of assessment.

What to do next

A tip here is to review the rectification table WITH the validation Matrix.  You can see which methods need to be amended with what content to get an even and reliable assessment.  If you need assistance reach out and we can set up a meeting.
